NRC TO MEET WITH OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT OFFICIALS TODISCUSS FORT CALHOUN NUCLEAR PLANTThe Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet with officials from the Omaha PublicPower District on July 17, to discuss the agency’s oversight of the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant. OPPD operates the plant, located 19 miles north of Omaha.The meeting, which is open to public observation, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 1616 Dodge St. The hotel will validate parking for the City of Omaha parkinggarage at 100 N. 15thSt.Fort Calhoun is shut down and remains in a safe mode following flooding along theMissouri River in 2011.OPPD officials will brief the NRC staff on the status of work underway at the plant and efforts to prepare it for restart.This meeting is one of a series the NRC is holding to keep the public informed aboutOPPD’s efforts to address performance issues.###
