On February 22-23, 2011, the National Institute of Justice held a two-day Topical Working Group meeting of expert gang researchers and practitioners. The participants considered the issues and gaps in basic gang research and anti-gang programs, including intervention, prevention and deterrence. The Working Group spent one day discussing challenges in basic research; on the second day, they focused on improving the anti-gang programs.
