The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs will host its third EducationUSA Forum on expanding international enrollments in U.S. colleges and universities on June 27-29, 2012 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The forum brings leaders in U.S. higher education to join EducationUSA regional coordinators and advisers to discuss strategies for attracting international students to U.S. colleges and universities.
Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Tara Sonenshine will address the forum during the opening session Wednesday, June 27th at 8:30 a.m. and Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Janice Jacobs will address the plenary session on Thursday, June 28th at 8:30 a.m.
Supported by the U.S. Department of State, EducationUSA advising centers located in most every country around the world provide international students with accurate, comprehensive and current information about study opportunities in the United States. EducationUSA advisers promote U.S. higher education to international students, guiding them through the process of choosing a school, preparing an application, financing study in the United States, and applying for visas. This year, EducationUSA regional coordinators and advisers from more than 40 countries will make presentations at the Forum.
Leaders in U.S. higher education, EducationUSA regional coordinators and advisers, and other Department of State officials will discuss strategies for attracting international students to U.S. colleges and universities. Sessions will focus on traditional as well as virtual recruiting strategies; improving international student services on U.S. campuses; handling student visa issues; tapping foreign government scholarships; and partnering with EducationUSA advising centers around the world. This year, separate tracks are being offered for beginning practitioners and experienced admissions officers as well as senior international program administrators.
The forum is open to U.S. higher education professionals by registration only. For information, please visit www.educationusa.info/conferences/forum_2012.
Media interested in attending open sessions, please RSVP to GriffinAL@state.gov.
