NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks finished mostly lower on Thursday, though the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average managed to reverse losses and end in positive territory. The Dow gained 19.61 points, or 0.2%, to finish at 13,145.82, with Alcoa Inc. and Caterpillar Inc. among the top gainers. The Nasdaq Composite fell 9.60 points, or 0.3%, to 3,095.36 and the S&P 500 index dropped 2.26 points, or 0.2%, to 1,403.28.
