SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Facebook is preparing its long-awaited initial public offering for sometime in May, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday afternoon. The report, citing unnamed sources, said the giant social network has halted trading of its shares on the secondary market this week in an effort to firm its shareholder count. The company filed its first IPO papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Feb. 1, but has not yet set a price range or share count to be offered as part of the deal. It remains unclear when in May the deal may commence, sources told the Journal.
