Travel of Assistant Secretary Philip H. Gordon to France, Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic

Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip H. Gordon will travel to France, Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic from March 26-30. While in Paris, France, he will meet with senior government officials, members of parliament, and opinion-leaders to discuss the full range of bilateral and global issues. On March 27th, Assistant Secretary Gordon will travel to Prague. He will meet with senior Czech government officials and participate in the U.S. – Czech Strategic Dialogue, an annual event that strengthens the bilateral relationship and examines how to increase cooperation in promoting common values and interests.
On March 29th, in Geneva, Switzerland, Assistant Secretary Gordon will represent the United States at the Nineteenth Session of the Geneva Discussions on Georgia. He will also hold bilateral meetings with senior Russian and Georgian officials. In Rome, Assistant Secretary Gordon will meet with senior government officials to follow up on the themes of economic and security cooperation discussed during Foreign Minister Terzi’s visit to Washington last month. Assistant Secretary Gordon will also meet with senior officials at the Holy See to review our ongoing collaboration with the Vatican on the promotion of human rights, the prevention of human trafficking, and the protection of the global environment.
