Democrats Call on Republicans to Put Forward Comprehensive Jobs Plan, Work Together On Big, Balanced Deficit Reduction Plan

MESSAGE FROM THE DEMOCRATIC WHIP
This week I was disappointed that House Republicans did not bring a single jobs bill to the Floor or put forward a comprehensive jobs plan. While we wait to see a full jobs agenda from Republicans, we will consider the “JOBS Act” on the Floor next week. The legislative package includes six bills that will help small business, and four of them have already passed the House with bipartisan support. Democrats will support the bills included in the package, but we hope Republicans will also put forward a comprehensive plan to help put Americans back to work and grow our economy.
One of the best things we can do to help create certainty for our economy and boost job creation is enact a big, bold, balanced deficit reduction plan that puts all options on the table. I gave a major speech this week on the importance of reaching a big, balanced agreement, and urged Congress to keep working on such a plan now, rather than waiting until after the election in November. There is always another election, and waiting until November won’t make it any easier to take action. I’m hopeful we can work together on a balanced plan that will reduce the deficit, strengthen our entitlements, and ensure all Americans pay their fair share.
Sincerely yours,
