CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Toyota said Wednesday that it sold 124,540 vehicles in the U.S. last month, a 7.5% gain over January of 2011. The Camry and Camry hybrid fueled much of the growth, with a sales jump of 9% while the company's Lexus division saw its sales slip 4.6%. "This month's results show that the all-new Camry is a hit, attracting both new and loyal customers with its class-leading performance and value," said Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. "Our focus on delivering the best new products will continue as we enter the most aggressive launch of new vehicles in Toyota's history."
