New York governor mum on Senate choice

(CNN) — New York’s governor Monday rejected media speculation about his choice to replace Sen. Hillary Clinton, should she be confirmed as secretary of state, calling it “all gossip.”
“And frankly, this is a serious issue which I think is starting to be treated as some sort of reality TV show,” Gov. David Paterson said. “No, this is the reality of life.”
“The speculation on the speculation, I think, is getting a little bit out of hand,” he said.
The speculation reached a frenzy over the weekend after reports that Caroline Kennedy, daughter of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, had phoned Paterson to discuss the position.
