Minnesota ballot review continues

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) — It’s looking more likely that the board looking at challenged ballots in the U.S. Senate race in Minnesota will not meet its self-imposed Friday deadline.
Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and his panel of four judges who make up the state’s canvassing board resumed their deliberation Wednesday morning after getting through just 160 of about 1,500 challenged ballots Tuesday in the race between incumbent Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken.
The board’s goal, Ritchie said Wednesday morning, is to make it through the Franken pile by the end of the day.
The challenged ballots — which were not counted in the preliminary totals that gave Coleman an edge of about 200 votes — include about 450 tagged by Franken’s campaign and about 1,000 by Coleman’s team. But each side may withdraw or add ballots as the process continues.
