Hoyer Statement on Kucinich Resolution« Thread Started on Nov 6, 2007, 6:14pm » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hoyer Statement on Kucinich Resolution--------------------------------------------------------------------------------WASHINGTON – House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after dozens of Republicans changed their votes and voted not to table a privileged resolution to impeach Vice President Cheney that was offered by Rep. Kucinich:"I am surprised that Republicans would treat an issue as important as the potential impeachment of a Vice President of the United States as a petty political game. It is beneath the dignity of this institution. "This is a continuation of Republicans’ gotcha games that achieve nothing more than short term entertainment for themselves, while showing their disdain for the importance of the people’s business. While Democrats are striving to address the American people's priorities, this episode has served to demonstrate once again the absence of a real Republican agenda for the American people."Speaker Pelosi and I have made it clear that this Congress is not going to proceed with impeachment, and is going to focus on critical issues facing our nation such as health care for children and the war in Iraq." ###
