Hoyer, Leading House Democrats Express« Thread Started on Nov 8, 2007, 7:37pm » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hoyer, Leading House Democrats ExpressStrong Support for Middle-Class Tax Relief Bill At a press conference this morning, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel, DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel, Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures Chairman Richard Neal, and Representative Patrick Murphy discussed H.R. 3996, a Middle-Class Tax Relief Bill. This bill will protect 23 million Americans from the Alternative Minimum Tax, and it will extend important tax credits for college tuition, teachers, children, homeowners, and others. It is fiscally responsible, ending the GOP practice of borrowing tens of billions of dollars each year to patch the AMT, and it will close an unfair tax loophole that has allowed the privileged few to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Also speaking at today's press conference were Michael Day, a firefighter whose family is protected from the AMT through Democrats' legislation, and Judith Frumkin, a teacher who will benefit from the Teacher Tax Deduction in this bill.Use the links below for more information:Statements from today's press conference [Hoyer, Emanuel, Rangel, Neal, Michael Day, Murphy, Judith Frumkin]+>> http://majorityleader.house.gov/docUplo ... ks.pdfBios of press conference participants Michael Day and Judith Frumkin +>> http://majorityleader.house.gov/docUplo ... pdfSummary of H.R. 3996, the Middle-Class Tax Relief Bill +>> http://majorityleader.house.gov/docUplo ... nformation on H.R. 3996, including:AMT returns by state [page 1]Child Tax Credit by state [page 12]Summaries of the property tax relief provision, the state and local tax relief provision, and the tuition tax credit [pages 13-15]Carried Interest: Myths vs. Facts [pages 20-21]What people are saying about carried interest [pages 22-25]+>> http://majorityleader.house.gov/docUplo ...
