Republicans Again Block Change In Iraq« Thread Started on Nov 16, 2007, 7:24pm » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------House Majority Leader : Republicans Again Block Change In IraqAgainst the Will of the American PeopleWASHINGTON – House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would provide funding for our troops while directing a change in course in the Iraq war:“Senate Republicans have once again blocked a change in course in Iraq against the will of the American people and in opposition to the interests of our nation’s security.“Just this week, top military leaders reinforced why we need to responsibly redeploy our troops as provided for in the Democratic bill when it was made clear that Iraqi leaders are not taking advantage of the recent decrease in violence to create the political reconciliation necessary for Iraq to become a stable, secure nation. “Democrats will ensure that our troops in Iraq have what they need to do their job and to stay safe, but we will not give the President the $200 billion blank check that he is demanding. We will continue to fight for a change in Iraq that will make this nation more secure.” ###
