MySpace, MTV Plan Candidate Chats« Thread Started on Aug 23, 2007, 9:43am » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------MySpace, MTV Plan Candidate ChatsBy Michael Falconeread at source> http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007 ... -chats/The popular social networking site MySpace is teaming up with MTV to hold a series of “candid, unfiltered discussions” this fall between young voters and the major Republican and Democratic presidential candidates. The events will be held on college campuses across the country, broadcast on MTV and streamed live on MTV.com and MySpace.com. Organizers say the dialogues will be interactive, allowing the audience to talk with the candidates in real-time by submitting questions though MySpaceIM, cell phones and e-mail, and by registering feedback using live polling tools.“We are lowering the barriers to entry, setting a high-water mark for direct engagement between presidential candidates and average Americans,” Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and C.E.O. of MySpace, said in a statement.Eleven of the presidential candidates have already confirmed that they will participate in the hour-long events, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain. Former Senator John Edwards will be the first to take part on Sept. 27 in New Hampshire. The partnership between MySpace and MTV, which was announced today, follows last month’s CNN-YouTube debate, which was also designed to attract a younger, Web-savvy audience.
