The group, which campaigns for democratic reform of Britain's political system, has welcomed the direction the former-chancellor is travelling in, but warns the government not to "pick-and-mix" from the conclusions of their "national conversation" with the public. Mr Facey continued: "While many of the things he has committed to are relatively uncontroversial, low hanging fruit, they are commitments that none of his predecessors were willing to make. "He has struck a blow for the authority of parliament. The next step is to strike a blow for the power of the people." Unlock Democracy is lobbying for the Citizen's Convention bill, which would commit the government to involving all sections of society in deciding how to improve the way the UK is governed.
