Democrats voting for war funding« Thread Started on May 24, 2007, 10:40am » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Democrats voting for war fundingPosted by Mark Silva and Jill Zuckman at 6:20 am CDTread at source> http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/new ... n.htmlWhen Joe Sestak, a Democrat and former vice admiral in the Navy, ran for Congress last year, he told the voters of suburban Philadelphia that the United States should withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2007. And he defeated a 10-term Republican.Today, after months of struggle with the White House, Sestak and fellow House members expect to vote to fund the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan through September. The legislation will not include the timeline for troop withdrawals which Democrats demanded. Instead, the $120 billion measure will contain "benchmarks" that the Iraqi government should meet to show progress.
