Democrats have a new plan« Thread Started on Feb 1, 2007, 2:40am » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Democrats have a new planJustin CarpenterIssue date: 1/31/07 Section: Opinionread at source> hyperlinkThis week President Bush went even further on his quest to escalate the war in Iraq. He was bold enough to actually say that he is the "sole decider" on war policy. Wow, that's all I can say. Wow. Even members of his own party like Arlen Specter said Tuesday "I would suggest respectfully to the president that he is not the sole decider." Sen. Specter is right on; President Bush is not the final decider. He is simply a president desperate enough to lose American lives in exchange for a chance at some sort of legacy. He spouts out one liners while mothers lay at home missing sons, and sons grow up missing fathers. He holds news conferences and gives TV interviews while wives lie in cold beds missing their husbands, and husbands raise children without a mother. Those people should be the "sole deciders." We, the American people, are the "sole deciders" and in November we decided that Bush, Cheney and all the rest of the right wing neo-cons in our current administration are out of touch with our values. We decided that we want our men and women home and we want them home now. We decided, you ignored and now we must speak louder.Bush and Republicans in his Administration look at Democrats and ask, "What is your plan?" I'll tell you our plan. Our plan is to bring our men and women home now and let the Iraqis defend themselves. President Bush asking the Democrats for a plan is like someone coming into your living room, breaking an egg on your carpet and asking how you plan to put it back together. I would have suggested never breaking it in the first place. With a leader arrogant enough to make statements like a "sole decider" we must speak louder and force this president into doing what's right and bringing our troops home.
