Democrats and Iraq seek more integrated cooperation« Thread Started on Jan 30, 2007, 8:33pm » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------January 30th, 2007by dusty @ 5:11 pm read a source> http://www.teambio.org/2007/01/iraqi-go ... -think/For all the posturing and politicking that goes on inside and outside the beltway, the recent visit to Iraq by Nancy Pelosi and a group of democrats seems to bear out what many on the left have been saying for awhile…the Iraqi’s want us out sooner than later. This article in the LAT has quotes from various Iraqi officials on how it went when the Dem’s came to town. A few snippets:“I see that the Democratic ideas are more related to reality,” said Ammar Tuma, a lawmaker who serves in Maliki’s ruling Shiite coalition. “They talk about the real problems that the Iraqis are facing every day.”*snip*“Before, Bush used to order Iraqi officials to do this and that,” said one member of Maliki’s Islamic Dawa Party, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “The Republicans were dictating the political process in Iraq. With the Democrats in control of Congress, the Republicans are now less influential than before. It helps us in a sense to breathe a bit more and to have more freedom.”The bottom line is this; The Iraqi government is glad the Democrats control the legislative branch. Perhaps we will be able to now see some progress in Iraq. The Maliki-led government has not been enamored with Bush and his plans for Iraq. They have not liked the ultimatums that Bush and his minions have announced. The Iraqi’s will develop relationships with both parties now, and this will hopefully lead to the US getting out of Iraq sooner than later.
