Cheney: Crafty Like A Fox« Thread Started on Nov 14, 2006, 3:26pm » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Cheney: Crafty Like A FoxOctober 31, 2006 read at source> http://www.democrats.org/a/2006/10/chen ... l.phpToday, during an interview on Fox News, Vice President Cheney once again continued his tradition of spinning facts even after they’ve been dismissed by everyone else. Cheney contradicted President Bush’s comments at last week’s press conference by saying that “we’re on the right track” in Iraq. “Once again, Dick Cheney has resorted to spin and misleading statements instead of being honest with the American people,” said Democratic National Committee Press Secretary Stacie Paxton. “As the election nears, Republicans are increasingly desperate because they have no record to point to and no credibility left with the American people. Americans want a new direction in Iraq, not a new set of talking points from the Vice President. Democrats are offering the American people a new direction that includes a strategy for victory in Iraq that redeploys our troops to better fight the war on terror, economic policies that create good jobs here in America.”CHENEY ON IRAQCheney On Iraq: “We’re On The Right Track” “… it’s absolutely essential that we get it right in Iraq. And I think that, in fact, we’re on the right track.” [Vice President Cheney, Interview with Neil Cavuto, Fox News, 10/30/06]• Bush On Iraq: “I’m Not Satisfied.” “I know many Americans are not satisfied with the situation in Iraq. I'm not satisfied, either.” [President Bush, 10/25/06]ON THE LINK BETWEEN IRAQ AND AL QAEDACheney Still Insists on Link Between Iraq and Al Qaeda; Said He Hadn't Seen Reports Rebutting the Connection. When asked why the Administration promoting the link between Iraq and Al Qaeda to justify the war in Iraq, Cheney stated, "So you've got Iraq and 9/11, no evidence that there's a connection. You've got Iraq and al Qaeda, testimony from the director of C.I.A, that there was indeed a relationship. Zarqawi in Baghdad, et cetera. I haven't seen the [Senate] report. We know that Zarqawi running the terrorist camp in Afghanistan prior to 9/11 after we went into 9-11, then fled and went to Baghdad and set up operations in Baghdad in the spring of 2002 and was there and then basically until the time we launched into Iraq."
