Quick Clip Transcript: Dean on MSNBC« Thread Started on Jan 20, 2006, 11:24am » --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Quick Clip Transcript: Dean on MSNBCIn a short interview this afternoon, Governor Dean took the Bush administration to task for diverting resources away from the hunt for bin Laden and his associates in favor of a war of choice in Iraq. He praised the recent action there and called for more focus on the hunt for the people who killed thousands of Americans on September 11th. He also made a point about the priorities of the two parties generally when it comes to keeping America safe and acting in the public interest:NORAH O'DONNELL: What should the Democratic and Republican parties be doing at a time when another Osama bin Laden tape has surfaced, rather than being divisive, shouldn't there be unity between the two parties? DEAN: There is division because the president is running a corrupt administration. The president has admitted that Jack Abramoff met in the White House -- this person who financed all these trips and campaign contributions in return for favors. Now, we want to know from the White House: who has Jack Abramoff met with in the White House? How many times has he been there? The American people have a right to that information. So, just because we are united in our fight on terrorism does not meet the Democratic Party is going to countenance corrupt Republicans running this country -- and that's exactly what's happening, it's happening in Ohio, in Washington, all over this country. We want a change, a fundamental change, a limit on this kind of money corrupting our government. The difference between the Republican Party they put their party first, before America. We think that's wrong. We think America comes first, not either political party. That's a crucial distinction, and one that won't be lost on voters this year.
