DNC Issues Report on Historic APIA Voter Turnout« Thread Started on Feb 9, 2005, 9:18pm »--------------------------------------------------------------------------------DNC Issues Report on Historic APIA Voter Turnout"Over the past decade, Asian Pacific Islander Americans have responded to the Democratic Party's commitment to expanding opportunities, strengthening our schools, and keeping our families safe." said Victoria Lai, Director of the DNC's Office of APIA Outreach. "The APIA community is already an essential part of the Democratic Party and, as this report proves, that relationship will only grow in the years ahead."Click here (http://a9.g.akamai.net/7/9/8082/v001/ww ... dscape.pdf) to read about the APIA community's historic turnout.A Victory for APIA Democrats in TexasAfter three months of obstruction, the Texas Republican Party has dropped its challenge to the election of Democrat Hubert Vo to the State Legislature. Rep. Vo is the first Vietnamese American to be elected to the Texas state legislature.Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe issued the following statement on Monday congratulating Vo. "Today's victory for Hubert Vo was a victory for democracy. As the past three months have proved, Tom Delay and his Republican protégés will stop at nothing to win an election even if that means blocking the will of the people. But Rep. Vo's victory proves that Republican tricks will not stop free and fair elections."DNC Celebrates the Lunar New YearChairman Terry McAuliffe issued the following statement marking the Lunar New Year:The Democratic Party is proud to join millions of Asian Pacific Islander Americans today in celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Rooster. The APIA community has always had a significant and lasting role in American history, and the Democratic Party will continue to champion the values of API Americans for generations to come. This year, 4073 by the lunar calendar, I wish all Americans a happy, prosperous, and healthy year.
