Yes, there are problems with Social Security« Thread Started on Feb 21, 2005, 6:54pm »--------------------------------------------------------------------------------It turns out that the President's "plan" for Social Security is so bad, the White House can't even get people to come hear about it from the man himself. Not only that, they can't get those who do to agree with him.The Boston Herald reports that during a stop in New Hampshire yesterday, White House aides could only give away half of the 2000 tickets they had for a Bush event on Social Security. Because of the lack of interest, the aides had to work their way through a hangar folding up extra chairs. Of those who actually decided to go, at least one expressed concern after listening to Bush speak:"Yes, there are problems with Social Security down the road, but where's the immediate problem?" asked Paul Guercio, a 58-year-old unenrolled research scientist from nearby Lyman, Maine."The president tells a good story, but I think this is scare tactics."The Hearald also added that the results of a recent University of New Hampshire Survey Center poll shows that only 32 percent of New Hampshire residents think privatization is a good idea. How long until the White House understands that the American people are smarter than they think?
