Nearly 33 million Americans have fallen into pover« Thread Started on May 22, 2004, 11:41pm »--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nearly 33 million Americans have fallen into poverty this year -- alt.politics, 01:43:03 11/27/03 Thu http://www.usccb.org/cchd/povertyusa/Nearly 33 million Americans have fallen into poverty - more people than a year ago, the highest number in years. What does it mean to the life of our nation to have so many people lost in a shadowy state of uncertainty and need? What does it mean to be poor in America - to be a resident of the forgotten state of poverty? The Catholic Campaign for Human Development has created this Web site to raise awareness of the causes and impact of poverty in our nation - and to help America's poor find a way to rise above the poverty line not just for a day, but a lifetime.
