General Officer Announcements
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Steven W. Busby has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Busby is currently serving as the deputy director for force management, application and support, The Joint Staff, J-8, Washington, D.C.
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Michael G. Dana has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Dana is currently serving as the commanding general, 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. William M. Faulkner has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Faulkner is currently serving as the vice director, J-4, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Walter L. Miller Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Miller is currently serving as the assistant division commander, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC.
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Joseph L. Osterman has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Osterman is currently serving as the commanding general, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico, Va.
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Christopher S. Owens has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Owens is currently serving as the deputy commanding general, II Marine Expeditionary Force/commanding general, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Gregg A. Sturdevant has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Sturdevant is currently serving as the assistant wing commander, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, San Diego, Calif.
Marine Corps Col. Edward D. Banta has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Banta is currently serving as the military assistant to the secretary of the navy, Washington, D.C.
Marine Corps Col. Matthew G. Glavy has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Glavy is currently serving as the deputy branch chief, Expeditionary Enablers Branch, Headquarters, Marine Corps Department of Aviation, Washington, D.C.
Marine Corps Col. William F. Mullen III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Mullen is currently serving as the commanding officer, Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Marine Corps Col. Gregg P. Olson has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Olson is currently serving as the assistant deputy director for regional operations, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C.
Marine Corps Col. James S. O'Meara has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. O'Meara is currently serving as the assistant chief of staff, G-3, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, N.C.
Marine Corps Col. Eric M. Smith has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Smith is currently serving as the commanding officer, 8th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
