Message from FDA Associate Commissioner Virginia Cox

Postby admin » Fri Jan 27, 2012 12:02 pm

Dear Colleague:
As we begin 2012, I wanted to update you on a couple of developments in the Office of External Affairs that I hope will prove helpful to our stakeholders.
First, I would like to introduce you to FDA’s new communications vehicle FDA Voice. FDA Voice is our official blog brought to you from FDA's senior leadership and staff stationed at home and abroad. FDA Voice is a new forum for us, and through upcoming blog posts you will find news, background, announcements and other information about the work done at the FDA on behalf of the American public.
Our belief is that a forum like this is especially important for an agency like FDA, because the work we do tends to be complex in nature. FDA Voice will give FDA employees the opportunity to go beneath the surface of issues to explain in their own words what they’re working on and how it impacts public health.
Since the first blog in December, we have covered issues such as Gulf Seafood Safety, Device Regulation, PEPFAR, and acetaminophen dosing for infants. You can sign up here to receive the latest blogs delivered to your email. If you have questions about the blog or topics you would like us to blog about, please send an e-mail message to fdavoice@fda.hhs.gov.
You may also have noticed changes to FDA’s web site. In response to feedback, we’ve updated the site with a cleaner look and feel; reduced the number of links on the home page, improved navigation by adding page tabs and raised the visibility of our most requested content. Looking ahead, our web staff is at work on improvements to FDA’s search engine so you’ll get a more complete response to your search queries. For more information about the web refresh, take a look at this video.
Our goal is to empower our stakeholders with as much information as we can and to enhance our communications with the public.
Virginia Cox
Associate Commissioner
