Senate to review insider trading bill: White House
from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Thursday that the Senate will take up legislation seeking to curtail insider trading by lawmakers, according to a White House statement. Reports said that Reid is expected to bring up the STOCK Act to the Senate floor as early as next week. President Barack Obama said in his State of the Union that if Congress brought him a bill banning insider trading by lawmakers he'd sign it "tomorrow." The move comes after Republican leaders in the House delayed legislative efforts to bring to a vote similar legislation seeking to curb insider trading by lawmakers. It also comes after a recent report on CBS's "60 Minutes" that highlighted details about alleged insider trading by lawmakers.
