General Officer Announcements


Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Army Lt. Gen. Dennis L. Via, for appointment to the grade of general and for assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala. Via is currently serving as the deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
Army Lt. Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as director, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Scaparrotti is currently serving as commanding general, I Corps and Joint Base Lewis McChord and commander, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command/deputy commander, U.S. Forces - Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
Army Maj. Gen. Patricia E. McQuistion for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and for assignment as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala. McQuistion is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island, Ill.
