The chief of staff, Army announced today the following assignments:

Maj. Gen. Anthony R. Ierardi, director of force management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to commanding general, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Maj. Gen. Jimmie O. Keenan, commander, U.S. Army Medical Activity, Fort Carson/chief, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, Fort Carson, Colo., to commanding general, U.S. Army Public Health Command/chief, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
Maj. Gen. Gregg F. Martin, commandant, U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa., to president, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.
Maj. Gen. John W. Nicholson Jr., to deputy director, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, Arlington, Va. He most recently served as deputy chief of staff, operations, International Security Assistance Force, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
