Hoyer: GOP Brings Another Meaningless Resolution to the Floor
IT’S TIME FOR REPUBLICANS TO SET GAMES ASIDE, WORK WITH DEMOCRATS ON IMPORTANT TASKS BEFORE US

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in opposition to Republicans bringing another meaningless resolution to the Floor, instead of focusing on jobs:
“Instead of focusing on jobs and economic recovery, House Republicans have chosen again this week to play political games. After last week’s messaging vote on the debt limit – a pointless charade of political maneuvering – they have brought to the floor today another meaningless resolution expressing the importance of passing a budget. No one in Congress disagrees that budgets are important. Democrats, though, believe that the budget we do pass for FY2013 should be fair and ought to support efforts to create jobs, boost manufacturing, foster innovation, and provide certainty to businesses so they can expand and hire. The empty resolutions Republicans have put forward in order to draw an artificial contrast between the parties will only succeed in showing Americans the real difference between those in Congress who want to play games and those of us who want to get to work tackling our pressing challenges, including job creation and deficit reduction. I hope Republicans will use tonight’s State of the Union address as an opportunity to set their games aside and begin working with Democrats on the important tasks we have before us.”
