NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT COOPER NUCLEAR STATIONThe U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Chris Henderson as the new resident inspector at the CooperNuclear plant located 23 miles south of Nebraska City, Neb. “Chris Henderson’s background and experience willassist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting peopleand the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclearpower plants,” said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E.Collins.Henderson joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in February 2010 as a ReactorOperations Engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He worked in the Division ofInspection Regional Support where he qualified as Reactor Oversight Process Engineer. In June, Henderson was selected to be a participant in the Resident Inspector Development Program in Region IV where he worked as a Project Engineer in the Division of Reactor Projects. Prior to joining the NRC, Henderson served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Los Angelesclass attack submarine USS Annapolis, based in Groton, Conn., and at Commander SubmarineGroup Seven in Yokosuka, Japan. Henderson holds both a master’s degree in NuclearEngineering and a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kansas State University.Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.Henderson joins senior resident inspector Jeff Josey.
