Reid says House payroll-tax bill 'dead' in Senate
from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday he wants to hold a vote later in the day on a House-passed bill to extend a payroll-tax cut, but predicted again that the bill is "dead" in his chamber. "It's time to get this vote over with," Reid said. He said "real negotiations" about extending the payroll-tax cut can begin after the Senate votes. Democrats object to language in the House bill that speeds up approval of a U.S.-Canada oil pipeline and other measures.
