Republicans are doing what they do best: playing chicken with our economy. The clock is running out, and Republicans have a right-wing plan that effectively holds the middle class payroll tax cut extension hostage to Tea Party demands.

Our country can’t take much more of this.

Now, Tea Party extremists are on their way to anointing Newt Gingrich as their candidate. One thing is clear -- next November, we need Barack Obama in the White House and a strong Democratic Majority at his side to ensure that America can move past these petty Tea Party games.
