NRC ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDSTO MEET DEC. 1-3 IN ROCKVILLE, MD.The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a public meeting Dec. 1-3 in Rockville, Md., to discuss several issues of current interest. Some of the topics include: • Levy County, Units 1 and 3 combined reactor license application,• concentration averaging and encapsulation of low-level radioactive waste,• proposed requirements for maintenance of inspections test, analysis and acceptancecriteria (ITAAC) and the associated regulatory guidance for reactors, and• draft report on the biennial ACRS review of the NRC safety research program.The ACRS advises the Commission, independently from the NRC staff, on safety issues related to the licensing and operation of nuclear power plants, and in areas of health physics and radiation protection. The meeting will be held in Room T-2B1 at NRC headquarters, at 11555 Rockville Pike. The session on Dec.1 and Dec. 2 will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and theSaturday, Dec. 3, session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Portions of the meeting may beclosed to discuss proprietary information, as well as organizational and personnel matters.
