NRC SCHEDULES CONFERENCE WITH PROGRESS ENERGYTO DISCUSS CRYSTAL RIVER NUCLEAR PLANT EMERGENCY PLAN ISSUEThe U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has scheduled a meeting in Atlanta on Nov. 7 to discuss with officials of Progress Energy, operators of the Crystal River nuclear plant, an inspection finding related to the company’s emergency action classifications for the plant. The plant is located near Crystal River, Fla., about 80 miles north of Tampa.The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. EST at the NRC Region II office, 245 Peachtree Center Avenue in Atlanta. The meeting will be open to observation by the public, and after its conclusion, NRC officials will be available to answer questions. A "White" findingmeans the issue is considered to have a low to moderate impact on plant safety. No decision on NRC actions will be made at the meeting.
