NEW INSPECTOR NAMED AT FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR PLANTNuclear Regu

NEW INSPECTOR NAMED AT FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR PLANTNuclear Regulatory Commission Officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have appointed Beth E. Sienel as the new resident inspector at the James A.FitzPatrick nuclear power plant in Scriba, N.Y. The plant is operated byEntergy Nuclear Generation Company.Sienel joins Senior Resident Inspector Ed Knutson at FitzPatrick.She replaces Resident Inspector Scott Rutenkroeger, who was promoted to Senior Resident Inspector at Vermont Yankee. "Beth’s experience and commitment to safety will help the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment, and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants,” said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean. Sienel joined the NRC in 1990 as a Reactor Engineer Intern in the Regional Office in King of Prussia, Pa. Following completion of the intern program, Sienel was a reactor engineer in the Region I Systems Section. She has worked as a resident inspector at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Millstone Station and Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station. Sienel is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., where she earned abachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering.Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interfacing with plant workers and the public.
