Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy praised the choice of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to be the next Supreme Court Justice. Ms. Kagan is the former Dean of Harvard Law School and clerked for former Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. She has never served as a Judge despite being nominated by President Clinton in 1999 for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals.
