Annette Gordon-Reed spoke about issues related to teaching the history of slavery, and about the research that led to her book, [The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family], which won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for history. She spoke at the National Council for History Education National Conference in Richmond, Virginia.
