Steven Bucci and other panelists talked about U.S. foreign policy in Southeast Asia, especially in North Korea. Mr. Bucci argued that the U.S. was ill-equipped to make put an increased focus on Asia as articulated by the Obama administration, in part because of recent budget cuts to the Defense Department caused by sequestration. This discussion was part of the Institute for Corean-American Studies' Spring Symposium titled, "The Korean Peninsula Issues and U.S. National Security."
