Rep. Speier on Defense Department Sexual Assault Report

House Armed Services Committee Member Jackie Speier (D-CA), talked about the Pentagon report that found 26,000 people in the military were sexually assaulted in 2012, an increase of 33 percent since 2010, and she responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Topics included possible reasons for the increase in complaints and procedures in a military sexual assault investigation. She also discussed her legislation, the STOP Act (Sexual Assault Training Oversight and Prevention Act) that would overhaul the way the military handles sexual assault cases.
