Report on Detainee Treatment
by info@c-spanarchives.org (National Cable Satellite Corporation)
The Constitution Project's Task Force on Detainee Treatment released a report on the treatment of suspected terrorists during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations. The two-year investigation was conducted by a bipartisan task force made up of former members of Congress, as well as former State and Homeland Security Department officials. The investigation confirmed that the U.S. used torture tactics such as waterboarding on detained suspected terrorists in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attack. Task force members criticized both the Obama and Bush administrations and questioned the value of information gained from the questioning. They responded to questions from members of the audience at the National Press Club, including medical aspects of various torture tactics and the question of closing the Guantanamo Bay facility.
