Senate Judiciary Hearing on Lifting Big Oil Liability Cap
The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to discuss the Big Oil Bailout Prevention Act. It would raise the cap on liability damages for big oil companies from $75 million to $10 billion. Some criticize the legislation because it could make it too costly for some oil companies to operate offshore. BP has said that they will ignore the current cap and pay all legitimate economic claims.
