Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) chaired a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing with Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. The committee heard about the government’s new moratorium on some offshore oil and gas drilling. It was put in effect following a May 27th report on drilling safety ordered by President Obama after the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
