Assistant Secretary Jose W. Fernandez Traveling to Spain and Turkey

Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Jose W. Fernandez will travel to Spain from September 28 to October 2, and to Turkey from October 2-4.
During his trip to Madrid, Spain, Assistant Secretary Fernandez will meet with Spanish leaders, government officials, and business people to discuss macroeconomic issues, as well as trade and investment issues. While there, he will also speak to groups including the American Chamber of Commerce in Spain; the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Carlos III University.
In Ankara, Turkey, Assistant Secretary Fernandez will lead the U.S. delegation for the seventh Turkey-United States Economic Partnership Commission (EPC), in keeping with the United States’ commitment to deepen and expand the economic engagement between the two countries. While there, he will meet with Turkish government officials and private sector leaders to discuss increased cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, energy, agriculture, transportation, and entrepreneurship. Assistant Secretary Fernandez will participate in a meeting of the Global Entrepreneurship Program, a collaboration between the State Department and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey, to hear about Turkish efforts to enhance their entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Assistant Secretary will also deliver remarks to the Turkish Exporter’s Assembly on Promoting U.S.-Turkish business ties.
