Flag Officer Announcements


Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert announced today the following assignments:
Rear Adm. (lower half) Douglas J. Asbjornsen will be assigned as reserve deputy commander, Navy Region Northwest, Bangor, Wash. Asbjornsen is currently serving as reserve deputy commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego, Calif.
Capt. Sandra E. Adams, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as reserve deputy commander, Navy Region Midwest, Great Lakes, Ill. Adams is currently serving as senior advisor to the minister of defense for personnel and education, NATO Training Mission Afghanistan/ Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Thomas H. Bond Jr. will be assigned as director for Command Control Systems, J-6, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command and director architectures and integration, J-6, headquarters U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Bond is currently serving as director, CJ6, U.S. Forces, Iraq.
Capt. Mark L. Leavitt, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as reserve chief of staff, Naval Air Forces/Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, San Diego, Calif. Leavitt is currently serving as reserve deputy commander, Navy Region Midwest, Great Lakes, Ill.
Capt. Jon G. Matheson, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as reserve deputy commander for fleet management, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Matheson is currently serving as chief of staff, Don't Ask/Don't Tell Navy Repeal Implementation Task Force, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Luke M. McCollum will be assigned as reserve deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Virginia Beach, Va. McCollum previously served as commanding officer, U.S. Fleet Forces Command Joint Task Force Unit 300, Norfolk, Va.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Jeffrey R. Penfield will be assigned as commander, Fleet Readiness Centers, Patuxent River, Md. Penfield is currently serving as director, capabilities integration and interoperability, Patuxent River, Md.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Robert P. Wright will be assigned as reserve deputy commander for fleet and joint operations, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Wright is currently serving as reserve deputy commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.
