U.S.-Latin America Business Promotion Tour

Under Secretary for Economic, Energy, and Agricultural Affairs Robert D. Hormats will deliver opening remarks at the U.S.-Latin America Business Promotion Tour kickoff event. The event will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Salon B, 2800 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. on Monday, September 26, at 9:45 a.m.
A press availability will be held by the Chiefs of Mission participating in the tour – U.S. Ambassador to Colombia P. Michael McKinley, U.S. Ambassador to Panama Phyllis M. Powers, U.S. Ambassador to Chile Alejandro Wolff, U.S. Ambassador to Peru Rose M. Likins, and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Brazil Todd Chapman. Business Council for International Understanding Board Chairman Ralph Gerson will also participate. The press availability will be held in the Smithson Room at 11:45 a.m.

The U.S.-Latin America Business Promotion Tour – sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Business Council for International Understanding, with assistance from the Export-Import Bank of the United States – will promote business and export opportunities in Latin America in support of the President’s National Export Initiative (NEI). The NEI is a government-wide effort to double U.S. exports and support two million U.S. jobs by 2015. From September 26 to 30, U.S. Chiefs of Mission will travel in two groups to Memphis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Houston, and Chicago to meet with business leaders and entrepreneurs, and promote business engagement in Latin America.
