Geithner urged more Europe 'firepower': Treasury
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- In a brief statement, the Treasury Department said Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner contributed "thoughts and ideas" on how European governments could develop instruments to ensure adequate firepower to address their challenges but didn't advocate or oppose any specific policy. Geithner also "encouraged his European counterparts to act decisively and to speak with one voice," the Treasury Department statement said. Geithner attended a meeting of European finance ministers at the Economic and Financial Affairs Council in Wroclaw, Poland.
