U.S. stocks open higher; financials lead gains
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks opened higher on Monday after data showed Americans spent more than expected last month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 163.32 points to 11,499.86. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 18.65 points to 1,195.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 40.05 points to 2,519.90.
