Nasdaq to open on Monday despite Hurricane Irene
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- NASDAQ OMX said late Thursday that it plans to operate all of its markets normally on Monday despite the threat from Hurricane Irene which is approaching the eastern coast of the U.S. "NASDAQ OMX has plans and procedures in place to ensure the readiness of its systems and staff in events such as this and will communicate regularly with members leading up to and after the storm," said the stock exchange operator in a statement. Hurricane Irene, currently a Category 3 storm, is expected to bring with it high winds and heavy rain to much of North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey this weekend.
