Japanese shares gain in early trading
SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks climbed in early trading on Wednesday with the Nikkei Stock Average up 0.7% at 8,793.42. Manufacturing-sector firms were advancing, with Fanuc Corp. shares up 1.9% and Japan Steel Works Ltd. gaining 1.9%. On Tuesday, manufacturing data from China that wasn't as bad as expected helped start a global stock rally that culminated in a 3% gain for the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
