NRC TO DISCUSS JAPAN TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATIONSAUG. 31 IN ROCKVILLE, MDThe Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with stakeholder representatives and the public on Wednesday, Aug. 31, to discuss the staff’s proposal for near-term action on recommendations from the agency’s Japan task force.The meeting will run from 1-4 p.m. in the Commission Meeting Room on the first floor of One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike in Rockville. The staff will propose which ofthe task force recommendations the Commission should act on without unnecessary delay. Thestaff will also describe its process for selecting the near-term recommendations, as well as the Commission’s process for acting on the proposal. Stakeholder representatives will offer their views on the proposal and the public will also have the opportunity to comment on the recommendations. These comments will be provided to the Commission along with the staff’s proposal.Additional information regarding the meeting, including expected participants and a moredetailed agenda, will be available on the NRC’s public meeting schedule. The meeting will bewebcast, and a toll-free teleconference will also be available. Members of the public who preregister to speak will have priority during the meeting; those interested in preregistering for the meeting or obtaining teleconference information should contact Lance Rakovan at 301-415-2589 for instructions.###
